| Abstract: | The main aim of this article is to study the relations of fine and decorative art and design, and also to identify trends of this interaction. The boundaries of design are determined. Being the synthesis of many art forms, it creates the new form of art development, retains its autonomous content, has its own problem area, It is noted that fine decorative art is characterized by creation of a single copy, while serial production is important for design. Fine decorative art focuses on spiritual values, but design concentrates on the connection between production and consumption, implementation of art revelations into life, into manufacture, into mass practice. There are four points of view on relations between fine decorative art and design within the culture. The basic characteristics of fine decorative art and design are defined. The paper reveals the tendency of design as a form of art that is able eventually to «absorb» decorative art in the modern world. In a particular sense, design affects the external form of modern art. |
