Abstract

The paper involves comparing the functions of folklore and parascience in Russian culture. The author explores creative and sociocultural relationship of folklore and parascience in the Russian culture and determines the influence of folklore and parascience on the world outlook and values of a person. The paper also highlights a communicative role of parascience in modern society and its close relationship with creative trends of art. Furthermore the author comes up with the definition of parascience of his own. Analysis of the cultural, communicative, pragmatic and philosophical functions of folklore and parascience in Russian culture enabled revealing the deep mechanisms of interaction and development of traditional and non-traditional trends in Russian culture. The results of the study allowed concluding that there are cultural, historical and philosophical foundations for the creative and spiritual relationship between folklore and parascience in Russian culture.
