Abstract

The paper deals with the basic values of modern post-industrial society in terms of restructuring its cultural space. The authors look at design as an art of the new millennium, as a phenomenon of culture, which manifests itself in innovation, and therefore being changeable, successful, versatile, possessing a powerful intuition and determining aesthetic world order in the totality of creative solutions. It comes to be a way of communicating with society by means of vivid graphic images to effectively relay new ideas and needs. The study is to show that under conditions of total globalization, Russian design in its typological diversity follows the common logic of cultural and civilizational process, becoming more and more aware of belonging to its national culture, its core values, which reflects the general turn of theory, methodology and pedagogy towards environmental and ethno-cultural problems. The paper attests to the revival of studying the traditional way of life and traditional Russian culture, harmony between man and nature,  of reflecting on the legacy of all cultures of the past, folk style prototyping, as well as adapting of historical and cultural samples to the project tasks.
