Abstract |
Regional studies cannot provide a straight and decisive answer to the questions about the author and the location of the only monument to A. S. Griboyedov in Crimea, just as the materials of the Ministry of Culture of USSR in State comity of Culture Heritage Protection. Here the bust monument of the writer-diplomat is not associated neither with the name of L. S. Smertchinsky, traditionally linked with the work, nor Alushta area, the place of interest of which it actually represents. On the other hand, available photographs testify that the sculpture, perpetuating the fact of “Woe from wit” author` journey to the South, is not one of a kind. Present paper is a result of the study focused on overcoming key inconsistencies related with the monument to A. S. Griboyedov in Crimea by reconstructing the history of the given piece of art. Its authorship`s issues are highlighted with the help of archives of the local department of Art foundation and testimonies of persons involved in its creation and installation. |
