Abstract

The analysis of V. Dahl’s novel “Adventures of Khristian Khristianovich Viol'damur and his Arshet” is focused on the context of artistic reflection of creative person and his tragedy. The fundamental principle of the latter, comprehensively demonstrated in a V. Dahl’s novel, is a self-humiliation of person and crash of his false pride. The author considers the problematic of this Dahl’s novel as a source of existential experience of contemporary man. Author’s interpretation is based on reinventing of the universal human experience, necessarily linked with archetypes of culture. The paper deals with various V. Dahl’s artistic conceptions such as: 1) essence of human destiny and types of moral freedom; 2) moving forces of morality and life creativity; 3) tragedy of artist`s fate. The article also examines essential links between these conceptions. For instance, human creativity and moral freedom is interpreted by V. Dahl’s as an unfinished and enigmatical essences, determined by different types of “way of living” of each person. This V. Dahl’s novel appears as a variant of “Faustian story” of human pride`s crashing.
