Abstract: Russian Old Believers phenomenon is one of the most striking phenomena of Russian traditional culture, and they are the subject of numerous studies. However, few studies have focused on the phenomenon of emigrant Old Believers, which is a unique example of traditional Russian culture adaptation to the conditions of a completely alien cultural space. Today the Old Believers in Alaska are the example of adaptation of traditional spiritual principles (which constitutes the essence of the Old Believers) to the conditions of stay in the center of the world of globalization, westernization, scientific and technological progress and post-industrialism. Old Believers’ experience of non-aggressive resistance to the world order, overcoming any ethnic, cultural and religious distinction, is extremely important in comprehension of Russian Way today. The purpose of this study is a comprehensive study of worldview, mentality and way of life of the Old Believers in Alaska.
