Abstract: The idea of «The Kazan history» defines the use of the lyrical genre of lamentations. The author of «The Kazan history» showed that Kazan had always attacked Russian territories and brought death and grief to Russian people therefore he emphasized their feelings by lamentations. The text reflects also the author's peculiar ideas about the world and man: he thought all people to have the same feelings and transmitted the grief of enemies by lamentations too. One share of lamentations includes only lyrical elements, the other combines lyrical and narrative fragments. The texts are drawn up by a system of tropes connected with literary and folk traditions, Bible quotes and by rhythmic means, going back to the monuments of eloquence.
Keywords: «The Kazan History», a genre of lamentations, tropes, Biblical quotes, rhythmic funds
