Abstract: This article attempts to prove the author’s of «The Tale of Igor's Campaign» tendency to the archaic ways of narration of XI - beginning of XII centuries. This tendency is, by the recognition of the author himself that he follows «ancient diction»; secondly, by the traditional author’s object-oriented associations; thirdly, by the traditional scattering of object details in real-life and symbolic pictures; and, fourthly, by the opinion of Academician D. S. Likhachev about the author of «The Tale» as an archaist. The article deals with object-oriented associations of the author of «the Tale» with the concepts of land, sun, wind, night, wolves, hawks, swans, birds, crows, girls, swords, spears, swords, arrows, stirrups, helmets, blood, hails, thought. For comparisons reasons the following works are involved: «Sermon on Law and Grace» by Metropolitan Hilarion, «The Tale of Bygone Years», the works by Vladimir Monomakh, Cyril of Turov, John Chrysostom, the Apocrypha.
