Abstract: The ethos of labor in Russian traditional peasantry culture was essentially formed in Orthodox tradition and also was formed in the interactions with primordial Slavonic agricultural ethos. The fundamental imperatives of this ethos are: 1) unself-ishness; 2) tenderness to people and nature; 3) comprehension of labor as a sort of ascetic deed; 4) comprehension of labor as a source of profound spiritual joy. Some worldview dimensions of Orthodox ethos of labor as a source of existential experience for contemporary man are analyzed here. The presumption that worldview experience of Russian traditional working culture is the powerful factor of existential enrichment for contemporary man’s ethos of working is demonstrated here.
