Abstract: The issues of culture integrity, its successive development are not only the subject of the theory of art, culturology, ethnology, but they are of practical importance and are associated with the viability of the people. Integral core of culture is the system of timeless traditional values. The focus of the traditional system of values is folklore, understood as the set of all artistic manifestations in traditional culture. Integrity of culture manifests itself through tradition and innovation, the interaction of academic and folk art, unique and universal manifestation. The principal difference between the historical perspective of academic art and folk art in the terms of relationship between traditional and innovative is that the traditional quality of folk art is determined by the value, aesthetic, artistic and stylistic stability, while the development of academic art is characterized by changes of styles, which, as a rule, tend to deny previous canons. The values of folk art, functioning as a spiritual reality, ensure the integrity of the national culture. One of the main criteria for the integrity is «natural» and «folk»-factors of art. Preservation of ethnic background of emotional and value-oriented relationship to the world, expressed in artistic form in folk art, ensures uniqueness and cultural identity. Among the core ideas of value and semantic bases of the traditional folk arts are the harmony between man and nature, sacred experience of ancestors and traditions. Folk art as an expression of national identity and worldview let people judge the integrity of national culture, represented by national and academic spheres of art.
