| Abstract: |
The article investigates the formation of the parish and the culture of the parish life of one of the most famous Moscow Churches - Church of the Lord's Ascension near Nikitskie Gates.The main stages of the formation of the church ensemble and participation of prominent public figures and renowned architects of the end of XVIII - first half of the XIX century in the process are examined. As the church is situated in the centre of Moscow, the paper also studies the major historical and cultural events in the city in the period before the church return to Moscow Patriarchate. |
