Abstract: There is a considerable divergence of opinions on ethnogenesis and dynamics of socio-cultural processes. During the celebration of Slavic Writing and Culture Days at the end of 2010 the International Symposium «Slavic World in the Third Millenium» was held in the Moscow House of Nationality under the auspices of State Academy of Slavic Culture, Slavic Fund of Russia and Institute of Slavic studies of Russian Academy of Sciences. The central issues of the Symposium were the «historic mission of Slavonic people in past and present» and «Slavonic people: interaction vector in Central, Eastern and Southern-Eastern Europe». The Symposium program included thematic sets of issues: «World wars as seen from the third millenium», «on the way to the idea of Slavic unity», «problems of Slavic identity in modern research» and «culture of Slavonic people».
