Abstract: The article is devoted to the historical and cultural and morphological analysis of monastic Divine service singing. For a research basis the understanding of divine service singing as unity of preacher, moral and musical beginning is taken. Singing in the light of patristic doctrines is considered in detail. The Student, Jerusalem Charter and Song compliance with the Great Church, showing that the initial acceptance of Christianity in Russia is connected with tradition of monastic divine service, is analyzed. A melodic variety of monastic church chanting is considered after the example of semblance, the examples of modern known and often used semblance are shown. As some examples of researchers, keepers and distributors of ancient monastic tunes, the activity of the island of Matfey (Mormyl) and G.Safonova is considered. As a whole the article is dedicated to the questions of spirituality of church monastic singing.
