Abstract

The rural prose of Kurochkin is almost unexplored. Some of his works appeared only after the death of the writer. Many of his rural works weren’t republished and are unknown to the modern reader. We believe that Kurochkin’s disagreement to abide by party rules became the reason for that. He courageously expressed his views in works which often led to failures in reprinting and publication of his numerous works. Yet at the same time he was not exactly a dissident as he didn’t call for overthrowing of a ruling system at all, and was artistically truthful and good-heartedly ironical in his portrayal of of injustices and shortcomings which he had to face in life. A human being with a complex inner world stood always at the centre of his works, which is why his works were timeless and still are urgent to this day. Paper explores the main works of Victor Kurochkin dedicated to the rustic life in order to prove innovative and original character if his rural prose in the context of works of writers of his generation. Many works are under study for the first time. The article helps to detect the main features of Kurochkin`s rural prose. The works are examined in comparison to his other works of the 50-60th years.  Besides, the evolution of rural prose of Kurochkin is shown. Cultural and historical, systemic, typological and structural-semantic methods of the analysis of the text are used giving a chance to include the object of studying in common cultural space. Article changes our understanding of literary process of that time. Innovation and originality of rural prose of Kurochkin are highlighted.
