| Abstract: |
The historical and philosophical analysis of theological controversy of XX century around the phenomenon of «scholar monks» (based on the report of Archimandrite Cyprian (Kern), «Angels, monasticism, the humanity» and the book by Fr. G. Florovsky, «Ways of Russian Theology») is provided. The paper proposes a historical excursus of the problem, including the review of points of view of the XIX century authors’ . It evaluates controversial social and cultural role of «scholar monks» in the history of Russian culture. |
